Bembridge Lifeboat Regatta 2001

This Year's Bembridge Lifeboat Regatta was on Sunday 22nd July 2001 at Lane End.

This year some old favourites returned for the regatta, such as the Raft Race and the Fishing Boat Race. Attractions for children included a bouncy castle, face painting and games in the afternoon. There was live entertainment in the evening from the local band "The Mechanix" and fireworks to round off the day. Unfortunately the Coastguard Helicopter could not attend this year as it had mechanical problems, however we were all entertained by the two Bembridge lifeboats and local helpers who put on a grand display of rescue techniques.

The rafts are launched ...
...while friends look on.
They're off ...
... on the closely ...
... fought race ...
... to the winning line.
The Crab & Lobster ...
... and the builders ..
... finally come home.
The line-up for
the fishing boat race.
The crowd looks on ...
... as Snowman "burns"...
... until the "fire" is put out.
The "Max Aitken III" ...
... speeds by ...
... past the boathouse ...
... with all on board relaxed ...
... as the "Criddy & Tom" follows on.
The popular bar ...
... was provided by the
"Crab & Lobster".
