Max Aitken III

Bembridge All Weather Lifeboat, 47-018
The "Max Aikten III", was named after the newspaper magnate. She is a 47 foot steel hulled Tyne class All Weather Lifeboat (AWB). She is faster and more seaworthy than her predecessors, and is the largest class of boat in the RNLI fleet that can be accommodated in the present boathouse.

Wed 31st December 2003 Bembridge All Weather Lifeboat was launched at approx. 0425hrs on Wednesday Morning to a 17ft open fishing dory a quarter of a mile off Whitecliff bay, Bembridge.
Criddy & Tom

Bembridge Inshore Lifeboat, D-503
The "Criddy and Tom" is a D-class rigid inflatable (RIB). She complements the Max Aitken on the Bembridge station, where we have a variety of sea and coastal conditions to cope with.

Sun 12th October 2003 The ILB was launched at 11:07am on Sunday 12th of October in severe weather conditions to a sailing yacht in difficulty and dragging its anchor outside the Bembridge Harbour.
